Children are the Real Billionaires of this Planet — Kabir Narayan Jha
You might laugh reading this, but all children are the real billionaires of the planet. You might think I’m talking about kids with wealthy parents — but no, I mean almost every child. When we were kids, we were genuinely happy, unburdened by material things.
Our days were filled with playing, eating, sleeping, and playing again. Sure, we can still enjoy life this way as adults if we earn enough, but now our minds are crowded with responsibilities, fears, and countless worries. Thoughts of debt, luxury, or status trap us, often created by our own desire for “more.” But as children, we lived happily with whatever we had; all we needed were friends and the basics.
One thing I really admire about a child’s mindset is how naturally they embrace joy and health. As kids, we’d run around for hours and feel exhilarated. Today, we pay for gym memberships to do the same running, but it doesn’t bring the same happiness; we just feel exhausted after an hour or two. Back then, we could play endlessly without tiring. Isn’t that a huge difference?
We often underestimate young people, thinking our life experience makes us wiser. But young people have something priceless: true freedom. Ironically, we adults are running after that very freedom. So let’s respect their ideas and philosophies — they’re often beautiful in ways we can’t see. And just because we don’t fully understand them, we sometimes call them “naive.”
When you truly enjoy something, you can do it for hours, days, or even years without tiring. When you approach life without worry or pressure, with the freedom of a child, you can accomplish incredible things.
To me, a real billionaire is someone who is truly free — not someone who owns a Ferrari or Lamborghini yet remains stuck in the cycle of constantly earning more, paying off debts, and endlessly chasing things that don’t even really matter.
This realization inspired me to write a quote:
“I would prefer to be childlike even after becoming one of the billionaires of this planet, because no amount of money can buy the freedom of childhood. It has always been more costly to live with peace of mind than to be restless.” — Kabir Narayan Jha
