How Patience and Love Shaped My Journey — Kabir Narayan Jha Life Lessons
Growing up, I struggled with patience and often wanted to achieve everything quickly. I would get frustrated easily and was an angry child, but I never showed it to others. Instead, I would express my emotions when I was alone. I knew this was a bad quality, but it stemmed from feeling inferior. While I attended a state board school (Punjab School Education Board), my neighborhood friends studied in ICSE board schools, which made me feel inadequate. I often underestimated myself and would cry alone, feeling the weight of my circumstances.
I lacked support for my dreams — no one encouraged me to pursue music or buy a guitar, and I couldn’t even get a laptop. Meanwhile, the people around me who could afford these things for their children discouraged my parents from doing the same for me. The ICSE kids didn’t like playing with me, which only deepened my sense of isolation. With no resources or friends, I often cried alone, asking God why I was in this situation.
But looking back, I realize that God was preparing me to become stronger and smarter. Over time, I started learning about technology through old newspapers and earned money working at a college cafe to buy a guitar. I even took a small loan from a relative to buy a laptop. Achieving these small victories required immense effort, and I often felt exhausted.
Through this journey, I learned patience, smart thinking, and how to persevere when everything seems against you. When God later gifted me with skills, talent, and success, I realized that the patience and calmness I developed were crucial. Without them, I might have used my abilities for the wrong purposes. Instead, I chose to use my “superpower” to help others and contribute positively to the world.
Despite the anger I felt towards those who wronged me — like the neighbors and ICSE students who never supported me — I chose to support the world. This is my choice. What’s yours?
So, I wrote this quote for myself:
“You can win the whole world with a single act of love, or you can lose yourself in a war. The choice is yours.”
