Make a System, Believe in it, See It will Change Things For You — Kabir Narayan Jha
A system is something incredibly powerful. It works for all the big things in life. Back in 11th grade, I wrote an article for my school titled “Sun: The Father of All Universe.” Even then, I was appreciating the system developed by God — how the supreme power created a smart, automatic system. It has the capability to fix its own issues, react on behalf of the creator, and control billions of galaxies and stars. Everything functions automatically. Scientists, who consider themselves smart, often fail to grasp the supreme intelligence behind this system created by the divine. We should acknowledge this.
I have always been inspired by nature’s system. Later, when I joined a major French MNC, Capgemini, I was also inspired by the vast system created by humans. At Capgemini, almost all the infrastructure and people work within a system together. Each component or team functions as part of this larger whole. They provide input and output to one another, forming a complex, interconnected system.
It’s like a huge factory that operates in a highly automated way, though there is always a manager who monitors everything. Of course, there are many drawbacks too, but I won’t discuss those here.
Throughout my life, I’ve created many systems — whether for managing my family’s finances, completing startup tasks, or simply out of my laziness. In the beginning, systems work slowly if you don’t have enough resources. But once the momentum and scale of the system become large enough, it begins to function without much effort on your part. What’s remarkable is that it doesn’t depend on you, even though you can control it. The system continues to work, even if you’re asleep. The only condition is that you need to be a good system designer, with knowledge and experience. If you lack these skills, your system may fail.
Despite many failures, I eventually succeeded in building systems for my family, my startup, and more. wakeupcoders.com is one such system I created. Although it still requires some maintenance from my side, it’s manageable, and I’m not fully engaged all the time. In my upcoming blogs, I will discuss various types of systems in more detail. Learning from and experiencing this exploration led me to form the following quote:
“Believe in the system. Work with it, and you will see how the system changes things for you.”
