Self Sufficiency is the Key to Wisdom — Kabir Narayan Jha Quotes
If someone asked me what one gift I would want from God, my answer would be freedom and wisdom. To me, these are the most valuable things in the world, even more valuable than money. Many rich people still struggle to afford true freedom and wisdom. While they may seem simple, understanding and living by them is very difficult.
I know I’m not a wealthy or brilliant person, but I’ve learned that life has many traps. I remember when my parents used to buy a gas cylinder for 400 rupees, and now the price is over 1,000. To afford even basic things like this, we often have to work for others, whether we like the job or not. That’s a trap in itself — you have to work just to get by, just to afford food and shelter.
Luckily, I’ve been able to step up in life. I’ve been blessed with nature’s gifts like solar power, a solar cooker, and wood stoves. These things work almost for free and have saved me about 10,000 rupees a year. This was my first step towards wisdom. Even if I don’t have money, I can still cook and provide for myself. The money I save can now be used to invest in things that grow over time.
This led me to think about self-sufficiency. How many things do I rely on the government or companies for? How much am I working just to keep up with basic needs? I realized that if I can meet my needs without depending on others, I’ve taken the first step toward wisdom. This would free me to focus on more important things than just food, money, and daily struggles.
I even wrote a quote about it:
“Self-sufficiency is the key to financial freedom. Be blessed with nature’s resources, and inflation won’t beat you.” — Kabir Narayan Jha
In the end, true wisdom is about reducing your dependence on others and gaining freedom. When you don’t have to rely on anyone else to meet your needs, that’s when you’re truly free.
