I once spent time with a friend’s father, who had served in the army. I had always dreamed of becoming a MARCOS, though that dream never came to be. Eager to learn, I absorbed everything he taught me — about security protocols, access levels, and especially weapons.
One day, he asked me a question that caught me off guard: “Narayan, do you know the name of the most dangerous weapon?”
Confidently, I replied, “A nuclear weapon.” He shook his head. I listed several more, but he rejected each one.
Finally, admitting defeat, I asked him for the answer.
He said, “The most dangerous weapon is the one that is present at the moment.”
His words struck me deeply. It took time, but I eventually grasped the profound meaning behind them. I realized that, in the chaos of battle, or in any crisis, the ability to stay calm and assess the situation determines whether you can identify and wield the best weapon or tool available.
